The Arista Hotel and Arista Spa & Salon in Naperville are the only Illinois properties outside of Chicago to win the 2022 Forbes Star Awards

Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”), the world’s only rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, announced its 2022 Star Awards this week. Naperville’s modern luxury boutique Hotel Arista received the award Forbes Travel Guide Recommended, and its Arista Spa & Salon received the Four Star award. They are presented with other winners on ForbesTravelGuide.com. The Naperville hotel and spa were the only recognized Illinois properties outside of the city of Chicago.

In addition to its traditional criteria ranging from cleanliness to luxury amenities, the FTG Star Awards included sustainability criteria for hotels, first introduced in 2021, and for spas introduced this year. Although the system does not give a sustainability rating, all 25 sustainability standards for hotels and six for spas are taken into account in presenting its Star Awards.

Forbes magazine reported in 2021 that 70% of travelers said sustainability is improving their vacation experience, and 82% said the Covid-19 pandemic has made them want to travel more sustainably in the future.
